HansaChat Can Open the Workspace

The HansaChat homepage is a laptop and a price. "Your company chat at a fixed price." Then: plans from €39 a month, one price per workspace. Channels, direct messages, files, calls, screen sharing. Web, desktop, and phone. Read only that and you bought Slack without the per-seat invoice.

Their Slack-alternative page says the buying model in one line. Not ours:

Small is €39 a month if you pay the year, €49 month to month, for 25 people and 10 GB. Team is €79 / €99 for 75 people and 25 GB. Company is €149 / €169 for 200 people and 100 GB. Free is ten users and 1 GB; ninety days without a persisted message deletes the room. Storage packs sit beside the plans: 10 GB for €5, 100 GB for €20, a terabyte for €50. Checkout adds VAT through Creem as merchant of record. You are buying capacity, not a headcount.

The hallway is the whole product

What ships today is company chat. Channels and direct messages. Threads in a slide-out panel, the same reply-count badges Slack trained everyone to scan. Mentions, reactions, files. Full-text search. Incoming webhooks that take Slack-compatible JSON — `text`, `blocks`, `attachments` — so a deploy bot can post without a custom SDK. Google SSO on every plan, with approved domains and auto-provision; admins can still keep a password for recovery. Audio and video calls with screen sharing, up to fifty people in a channel. Native apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.

The FAQ will not sell you Teams. Their line: the goal is not to mirror every feature of large collaboration suites. HansaChat wants internal communication, a simpler scope, and a different bill. If your hallway is Slack apps all the way down, this is the wrong shop. If the job is channels, DMs, and calls at a number you can budget, the live demo opens without an email.

The changelog starts at 0.0.1 on 4 March 2026. Threads in mid-March. 2FA in April. Mobile and desktop apps in May. Google SSO and incoming webhooks in July. Group calls in August. On 27 August, version 0.3.12: a Slack-compatible ZIP of every public and private channel, threads, reactions, mentions, users. Paid workspaces get one export a day, downloadable for seven days. Mattermost, Rocket.Chat, or Zulip can read it. Six months from first public release to an archive that tells you how to leave.

Hosted chat, not a sealed vault

A Lübeck sole trader ships it. Core hosting is IONOS Cloud in Germany: a physically separate database per paid workspace, files in Object Storage with AES-256 at rest, TLS on the wire. That is residency plus at-rest. It is not a vault the host cannot open.

Workspace owners cannot read a private channel or a direct message unless they belong to it. The operator can, for maintenance, troubleshooting, security, abuse, legal compliance, or support you asked for. 2FA and bcrypt-hashed passwords protect accounts. They do not seal messages from the people who run the cluster. If you wanted Element-style end-to-end, you are still in the wrong shop. This is how hosted company chat is built when the product is a workspace you log into, not a key you keep.
